President Biden Responsible For Border Crisis In Texas

Those of us in Texas are well aware we have a major crisis on our southern border. In January alone, Border Patrol agents had over 78,000 “encounters” with illegal border crossers. The New York Times reported last week that illegal crossings were over 100,000 in February.

In the three months since Joe Biden won the election, these so-called encounters totaled over 224,000 which is 87% higher than the same three months a year ago. NBC reports a “record number of unaccompanied migrant children are being held in facilities meant for adults” and nearly half have been held for longer than the three-day limit.

“The CBP [Customs and Border Protection] holding cells, sometimes known as ‘hieleras,’ or iceboxes, are not designed for children. They are typically small concrete rooms with concrete or metal benches and no beds,” NBC reported. This is a terribly inhumane crisis!

Yet the Biden administration refuses to acknowledge there is a crisis on our southern border. Just last week, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas flat out denied there is a crisis at the southern border. “The answer is no,” he responded to a reporter’s question. “I think there is a ‘challenge’ at the border that we are managing.”

The very next day, administration officials informed President Biden that the number of migrant children in the US is on pace to surpass the previous record by 45% and that there aren’t nearly enough beds to accommodate them. So, the president knows very well what’s going on.

What he refuses to admit, much less acknowledge, is that this crisis is a direct result of his policies since taking office. People in Central American countries know they will not be turned away or deported, so the floodgates are open.

Let’s review specifically what President Biden has done so far to encourage illegal border crossers.

First, he canceled Donald Trump’s construction of the border wall. Next, he jettisoned Trump’s successful “remain in Mexico” policy that required asylum seekers caught in the US to wait in Mexico while their cases were adjudicated.

Then he suspended Trump’s requirement that asylum seekers who traverse another country before reaching the US had to seek asylum in that initial country first.

Biden also stopped using Title 42, which gave border agents the ability to immediately remove illegals in order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. It is widely reported here in Texas that all illegal border crossers are tested for COVID, but even if they test positive, they are still put on buses headed for destinations all across the country. This is criminal!

Biden also announced a “100-day pause” on deportations, then issued new rules that cripple the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency’s ability to arrest and deport illegals in what the Washington Post described as “a major shift in enforcement.”

Biden has also proposed the most sweeping amnesty for illegals in US history.

As former acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf told Fox News, “There’s been a number of executive orders and policies that have created a ‘border crisis,’ a humanitarian crisis.”

Pay close attention to those last two words. In just seven weeks, Biden, and Biden alone, created a dangerous and deplorable humanitarian crisis through his unilateral actions.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott openly criticized President Biden last week for the situation at the Mexican border.

An alarming number of these illegal border crossers are known criminals, including sexual offenders and other felons, as well as violent cartel gang members.

Representative Tony Gonzales, whose congressional district includes over 800 miles of the US-Mexico border, says the current situation at the border is “worse than people realize.” He believes the Biden administration has taken the “wrong approach” to immigration. He warned:

“My district is over 800 miles of border. I am on the border every single week… What you’re seeing is this administration is in its ivory tower, and they refuse to come down to the border and talk to anybody.

Republicans, Democrats, we are all in the same boat. All of us deal with the same issues along the border. They refuse to have a conversation. And that worries me, because they’re leading from Washington and they’re not down on the ground talking to the people that see it every day: the ranchers, the farmers, the mayors, the sheriffs, [and] everyday citizens.

This is a crisis, and the Biden administration is absent. It’s certainly not a ‘challenge’ at the border. The border is on fire. Their whole plan was ‘We’re going to do everything opposite of what the Trump administration did,’ and they didn’t have a plan. Their plan was to do away with everything. That is the wrong approach.”

This issue isn’t how will President Biden “deal with” the surge of illegal border crossers. The issue is whether anyone will force Biden to “take responsibility” for causing it in the first place.” I wouldn’t hold your breath!
