Issues Intentionally Avoided At The DNC Convention

Before I weigh in on today’s topic, last week’s Democratic National Convention, I plan to have a comparable response to the Republicans’ National Convention next week, if one is warranted. As even the liberal media reluctantly admitted last week, the Democrats obviously decided certain key topics and national issues were off limits for discussion at their convention.

Topics not discussed included some of the most important issues facing our nation today. The question is why the Democrats willfully and overtly decided not to address these critical issues. The Republicans wasted no time going after these important issues in their convention, as they should have. So here are the major issues the Democrats decided to ignore at their convention.

It’s hard to know where to start in terms of specifics that were ignored at the Dems’ convention, but I’ll begin with a couple of generalities. First, if you watched any of the DNC convention, you knew within minutes that the main theme was an unbridled attack on President Trump, start to finish. No surprise there, they hate him!

Second, the Democrats spent their whole convention talking about how broken America is today and how far our country has fallen in terms of respect on the world stage – all thanks to Donald Trump – who they also blamed entirely for all the COVID-19 ills, night after night.

With those generalities out of the way, let’s move on to the specifics the Dems chose not to speak about. Some of the points I’ll make below were so obvious that even some in the liberal media couldn’t avoid admitting them in the wake of the convention.

Let’s start with the widespread and growing nightly riots and violence in several major US cities. It has become so bad even the mainstream outlets on network TV report on it daily. Yet there was not a word on the riots spoken at the DNC convention last week, according to RealClearPolitics.com and other media outlets.

In fairness, there was not a lot the Democrats could have said. After all, the rioting is occurring in “blue” cities whose governments have long been dominated by Democrats. Let’s remember that as a party, the Dems oppose the use of force by the police, Homeland Security and the National Guard to protect our people, our homes and our businesses.

So, how could they address this issue, especially when elements of their party are advocating defunding the police? There was no upside, and considerable downside, so they ignored one of America’s most important issues, and hoped we wouldn’t notice. Yet we certainly did!

Another issue which was totally ignored was any mention of China being responsible for COVID-19 and the global pandemic. While I didn’t watch the entire convention, several reports I have read said the China connection was never made and no blame assigned. How could they not at least say something?

Of course, Mr. Biden has another reason to avoid talking about China – his son, Hunter Biden, who accompanied his Dad on a trip to China on Air Force Two and eventually returned to the US with a reported $1.5 billion investment windfall. Maybe that’s one of the reasons Biden made sure to stay away from any serious discussion of China.

Another issue not mentioned by any of the DNC speakers was socialism. Even avowed socialist Senator Bernie Sanders made sure not to include that word in his convention speech. They also failed to mention even once the “Medicare For All” plan which Sanders introduced and Kamala Harris co-sponsored.

Which brings us to another topic not mentioned much, if at all: the US Constitution. Of course, it’s hard to talk about the Constitution when it’s your intention to eliminate the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms. It’s also difficult when you advocate for the elimination of the Electoral College. And it’s tough when you’re allowing mob rule in multiple large cities.

President Obama’s keynote address had this central point: To blame President Trump for everything related to COVID-19. The 175,000 deaths, tens of millions of jobs lost, millions of businesses closed permanently and our reputation tarnished around the world.

Of course, no speaker at the convention mentioned the fact that Democrats across-the-board roundly criticized Trump for his travel ban on China in February – which was a great decision. And no mention whatsoever of Ukraine and Hunter Biden’s scandal there, either – no surprise.

I honestly do not know how the Democrat strategists decided their convention speakers should ignore these and other critical issues they were silent on. Don’t their voters deserve to know where they stand? And more importantly, what they intend to do in an effort to solve these glaring national problems?

And finally, how did the Dems’ organizers not realize their failure to address these issues would offer the Republicans the opportunity to vilify them at their convention this week – which they are doing? Go figure.

LATE NOTE: Bowing to demands from CNN to address the issue, Joe Biden finally made a statement late yesterday condemning the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, WI. Biden also called for an end to the riots and violence in several major cities around the US, but he offered no details regarding any actions he would take if he wins the election.

  1. good of you to note issues not addressed by democrats. What does the republican platform say about any of these issues? Oh, wait, there is no republican platform this year!
Traditionally, republicans stood for balanced budgets, free trade, fair elections, honest gov. and respect for women. That is all out the window now. In fairness fair elections were jettisoned over ten years ago with “red map”.
So we are left with pussy grabbing, denial of woman’s right to choose, corruption, incompetant governing, cult of personality and election fraud. Is this a compelling platform? The corruption of the 1920’s and incompetance got us FDR and an unhealthy 20 years of dem presidents. Do we have to do this every 100 years?

  2. The best strategy the Dems have is to use covid as a reason for mail in ballots. Then delay the election until Jan 20 and use the 20th amendment.

  3. the best democratic strategy is the truth. Trump has betrayed, his oath, the constitution and the republican party. He needs to be removed so that the party can choose a new leader who will be faithful to its’ principles and provide effective balance to the dems. See Washington Post this AM. McCains people have come out for Biden.
